About Dive Training at Neptune

Thank you for your interest in our SCUBA training program. Prospective students usually have questions regarding the cost, requirements, and time involved in classes. We have attempted here to answer most of these questions and we are always available with any information you may need.

We teach the SSI (Scuba Schools International), formerly NASDS (National Association of SCUBA Diving Schools), SCUBA course. This certification is recognized worldwide and you are guaranteed the consistent integrity of the NASDS program. Providing the most complete and enjoyable course available is our goal; with more than 30 years experience, our reputation stands firm in customer service and satisfaction.

A cost of $250 covers your enrollment and we require $25 of that amount as deposit to insure you a place in the class. The class fee includes your book, dive tables, all lectures and instruction plus rental equipment (regulator, buoyancy vest, wetsuit and air) for all pool sessions and for local primary Open Water dives. Class fees must be paid in full by the second lecture session.

The class consists of one pre-counsel session, five lectures with pool sessions, and a test. It meets either one day a week for 7 weeks or 2 times a week for 4 weeks. To certify, you must also complete five Open Water dives; the first open water dive is made in nearby lakes and final open water dives are made in Florida at Ginnie Springs or West Palm Beach. While the Florida check-out dives are recommended, local check-out dives can be arranged.

You are required to furnish you own basic equipment which consist of mask, fin, snorkel, gloves, boots, weights and weight belt. Prices vary depending on styles and quality selected. For convenience as well as safety, you should attend the pre-counsel session before making any equipment purchases. Your instructor can help you insure a perfect fit and wise choice. Experience has proven that most problems in diving can be attributed, in one way or the other, to faulty or inadequate gear. Because of this, all equipment used in the class is subject to instructor approval. Major equipment may be rented for the final check-out dive at student rates, and we offer equipment counseling, package prices, special layaway programs, and financing.

Students must be at least 15 years old to qualify for full certification. Students must maintain an average level of fitness. While it helps to be a swimmer of average or better ability, modern equipment enables those with moderate swimming ability to excel as divers, also.

Our classes are limited in size so that you will receive individual attention. This assures that you are not pushed beyond you ability, that you may learn to be a competent, confident diver and that you come to enjoy the sport as much as we do. Because of the importance of the classes, we insist that you be on time and that any missed class must be made up.

Neptune Dive & Ski is serious about SCUBA. We teach with a sense of responsibility and a guarantee of experience - - no rush jobs here. We are professionals and our program reflects our pride in the sport. Come dive with us and share that pride when you embark on a wonderful underwater adventure.
